Books for Geeks
Cool geek books: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/572179/104-5272834-7403946 These are the sort of projects that "Dex4u" was designed for 8) .

HAHAHAHAHAHA nice! Kinda sad, but I was going to build a SBC for my car (1997 Dodge Stratus), for MP3 playing from digital medai, and maybe, assuming I could find enough info, hack the onboard computer to get information like diagnostics and stuff, and maybe (future), figure out how to adjust settings. I figure a cheap car is the best to start with, a shame I can't get a geo metro. lol. And yes, I was going to use Dx4u, of course.

Sounds like a great projet to me 8) , i like crossing hardware and software as some times it easier to do it in hardware because of not having the info for software. EG: I am thinking about a mp3 player for "Dex4u" but using a easy to get mp3 decoder chip, we could have the full info for people to make the circuit etc, and can down load the software to run it from "Dex4u", even the sound could use a Fm transmitter to get round the sound driver problems. I also looked into making one of these: http://www.tlb.org/scooter.html PS: May be we could add a electronics part to the forum for electronics ???. And this co had some car electronics kits http://www.jaycar.com.au/

Jaycar is from down under, Jas2o probably hangs out there. We could add a section for that, once I get something functional, and a prog. to interact with it. ex: how to make a "carputer". Once I'm back at school with all the University's equipment, I'll see what I can do. (Pick programmers, etc)

There is one not quite where I live but it is the city over. I actully have only been there a few times. I'm not yet interested in kits (I can't solder good). Jas2o

The secret is a good quality soldering iron and solder, then its just practise.
