boot dex os using cd
I hate to say i got rid of floppy disks. I created a windows 98 boot cd. Whats been the experience of using cd over floppy. I know using win 98 boot cd is faster than floppy. I like pocket cd's as well

Booting from CD and running program from it is faster on some PC but slower on other's. As DexOS use's floppy emulation even from a CD.

A live cd ver of DexOS would be nice. I did a couple quick experiments and decided that needed to be gotten back to after current projects. Getting it to boot is only half the work, the OS would probably need to be changed so that it looked both in the current directory and on the cd for any program you wished to run.....

I agree that this would be a useful addition, I think a %PATH% style variable should be implemented, so that DexOS can be adapted to people's needs in storage situations.

The ISO off the web site is a live CD ;), If you burn it it will make a bootable CD, that emulate the floppy drive, this means DexOS works as normal, when you load stuff off the A: drive it load programs off the floppy image on the CD (this is because it user the BIOS driver) as when it goes to realmode it still emulating the floppy. You can still load from the CD as normal by changing to the D:\ drive or load from the real floppy drive if you have one by, typing pmode <enter> in the cli or BIOS <enter> to go back to BIOS driver. The only thing you can not do under floppy emulation is save to the disk. I also have coded a Vfile sys as a load able driver, it 90% finished, i will release it soon :) .
