have you chosen a license to protect it?

Dex- 05-15-2006

Yes "(c) Craig Bamford, All rights reserved. ", but this is going to be changed to a license owned by the founding members. Dex jas2o bubach tonyMac crc

Cool, I was just curious as to whether or not we had adopted any particular license for open-source software.

Dex- 05-16-2006

Is it possable, that you could or anyother named member. can come up with a proposal, that let people use the code, but the founding members own the rights. As its not my strong point.

jas2o- 05-16-2006

Now it's time for Jas2o to talk about files: -------- Now how easy will it be for you to keep all the different files up-to-date? -Image (for emulators) -Source -"Main Distro" -Iso -Kernel32 Also, for the zips that are programs. Do any of them contain the OS? If they do, is the OS needed to be in them? -------- Now for Jas2o to talk about other stuff: -------- Do you plan on updating the news page? Making the title of all the pages "Dex4u" instead of "dex4u" (or "dex4u test page"). I did lose my php "mirror", but I can rebuild. Don't make me put up a "mirror" again! Jas2o

I will update file as time lets me, as soon as something new is added i up date the files, as for "dex4u" it is need or the web page is not top of search, for some reason ?.

tonyMac- 05-16-2006

I'm afraid software licensing isn't my strong point, either, perhaps some of our more experienced members could help us out with this one, I haven't heard from Smiddy in a while though, I bet he'd have some good ideas.

Sorry dex, I don't understand. Dex4u and dex4u give same results (if your talking about searching in google). It shows on top with both... Jas2o

I have developt a simple site editor that allows any registered user to create a homepage by chosing a template, create pages and then edit them in a wysiwyg-editor on the web. a screenshot: http://joox.net/sitebuilder/editor.png how it looks with the template choosed: http://joox.net/sitebuilder/sida.php?user=1&sida=2 maybe i could make something like that for the dex4u site, that way you could upload files and change pages very quickly, from any computer with internet access. Anyway, i think it's cool and i'd like some comments on it even if you don't want it for the dex4u site.. 8) btw: for those that didn't know, i have broadband now.. :D

Hi, I hope I'm clear in this and this is actually 100% true, at least, I found them to be true: the (C) is referred as copyright, which means you wrote it and that you hold any rights. However(!!), it does NOT state what you can/cannot do with the source. A license tells for example what is allowed; whether you are liable for any actions the OS did to the person/computer/any other thing. Whether if the user is allowed to copy the source (if so, are there any conditions that must be met?), etc. Further, it's very important to be very clear about things in the license, we are talking about legal issues here. There are some people that will search for 'flaws', and they will abuse them. The point is: copyright and license are related, but are definetly not the same. hth, DennisCGc. PS. Consider looking at the opensource licenses. (personally, I like the BSD-style license one of the best, but of course, it's your choice ;-) )

Dex- 05-29-2006

@ DennisCGc,Thank for the incite in to legal matters, i will take a look at BSD License and get back to you. The copy right will be ownd by the original team, but as for license i will check some out and set a vote up. NOTE to all members: Please can any member put the licence they would like to be in cluded in the vote, has DennisCGc as.
