GP2x
I have ordered a GP2x and will be do some Dev work on it, what we learn on the GP2x will be easy to transfer to the DS as they run basically the same chip (ARM9), but as the GP2x makes, encourage people to Dev for it, and it even comes with Dev disk and linux OS, we will make faster progress this way. I will at a later stage be porting Dex4u and will be using Dex4u as the main Dev environment. also in the making is a fasm assembler for the ARM, which will be ported to Dex4u 8). As i learn ARM asm i will be writing tut, to help other members, these will be posted in the new Asm Mag planed.

The GP2x arrived this morning, (still no sign of the M3 Adapter, for DS ), I am going to write a full review for the new mag, but will give a basic one here once i played with it a bit.

Just some image to give you's a taste of the GP2x :) . http://www.dex4u.com/images/GPfrozen1.png http://www.dex4u.com/images/GPmenu1.png http://www.dex4u.com/images/GPload1.png http://www.dex4u.com/images/GPpong1.png PS: To give a idea of size, it's the same size as a DS, but with a bigger screen.

Looks good... I am currently in the Resource Center, people are playing their DSs. (I will NEVER bring in mine). I would love to play frozen bubble on the DS one day... I got a DVD working on my DS (did I say this in a PM?). It is a bit less than 200mb :) Jas2o

Are gp2xs 'dodgy' or something? Strange that it hasn't arrived, have you talked to whoever you bought it off? Mine came from eBay, I (or any other person in my family) have never had experince buying from a website other than eBay. I hope it comes soon, or things get sorted out. Jas2o

I bought some stuff before from them and it came very fast, but this time they are not answering my emails and have taken the money. As for the GP2x they are not has goodly made as the DS or PSP  I will let you know when i hear anything.

jas2o- 02-17-2006

That sounds sort of strange. What is the site you ordered from? Jas2o

Hmm... http://www.resellerratings.com/seller7202.html They seem to be 'alright'. Their lifetime ratings doesn't seem too good. Most of gbadev say they got theirs in 2 days. I don't know how to deal with these people :( Hope you get a email reply from them (or get the item) Jas2o

Both the GP2x and passkey2 + M3 adaptor came this morning :) . The passkey2 has a switch for both 1 & 2 passkey, also comes with a mini-disk. The other part (M3 Adapter) is a movie and music player, ebook reader + games emulator for FC, NES, SNES, GB, GBC, SMS, and other roms, + a CF card holder.

Great to hear :) . Mine is pretty much the same thing, but all the emulators aren't built in. So... Are you flashing your DS? Or just use passkey? Jas2o

Dex- 02-23-2006

I'm still unsure, maybe passkey to start with and when i get brave, i will flash it  . Normally it would not worry me much, but about 4 days ago, we had a power cut :( , first time in 10 year's .

jas2o- 02-23-2006

Oh, if you do it, maybe you should tape the battery in, even if the AC is in and the battery falls out, I think the DS dies :( Passkeys have been known to break the slot-1 connector. Is it the kind of passkey that looks like a DS cart? Or a 'stick out' kind? I flashed mine because I only have WifiME, not very portable. Jas2o
