HW reporting tool The idea behind this tool is to collect HW configs and collects them into a web2.0-like website to allow *any* open source OS project devs to exactly understand on what machine the user is testing the software. This should allow to seek bugs more efficiently.
We (the Italian ROS users, which i'm the forum moderator of) started a constructive discussion around this idea and we agreed that the simplest and efficent way to achieve this is to use a FreeDOS bootable disk with an HWiNFO-like tool.
Of course, DexOS could be a great substitute for FreeDOS...
Here's some -maybe useful- links:
Softwares
<*>PC-Config - an outdated sysinfo for DOS, with sources (Pascal/ASM)
<*>Sysinfo - a mature script based utility to retrieve/display/save information like hardware, configuration, user, network information for Linux.
<*>GSysinfo - a simple GNU/Linux program which displays some computer/system information.
...more resources to come...
