New release will be out soon
Hi all, i have been working on a new release of DexOS, With many new features. Will be releasing it soon and will post here. Regards Dex.

The reason i have not released the new ver is because i want the new windows type GUI in the new release. But as i needed to add many things to the new GUI, including a gui ide, paint, media player, calc progams etc. Its taking its time, so i have decide to release the Gui once done, but release the new ver soon, i am just adding a ramdisk, so you can use B:\ as a virtual floppy, this will make assembling code etc on DexOS much faster and work better from a CD. So hopefully i will release a new ver soon. Regards Dex.

Been a while since ive been here, Was wondering, are you going to be keeping the GUI seperate from the actual DexOS system itself, (Will it just be a userland program, that would be optionally installed/run, or will the GUI be integrated into the kernel, menuet-ish like?) Thanks for the great OS btw, Its really impressive how far it has come

Hi gunblade, long time since we hear from you, as to your ? it will be a separate program, in the same form as a driver, so you can make it auto load, by adding it to DexOS startup.bat (which will load any driver or program at start up). It will be loaded to top of ram out of the way. Also built in will be GUI function, that can be used by any program, so it will be very easy to add window to your GUI programs. Plus you can easy change the gui or customise it, just by changing the one program. Of cause you will still be able to use the CLI as normal too. Regards Dex.

No worries, you understood me perfectly. I understand the date, as I have 5 years of German in my past. :lol: So I'm assuming that includes most of the newest toolset in the API? Also, our OS concept may have caught the attention of M$, I'm going to post another article about one of their new projects.

Look forward to reading that 8) . Most of the new stuff can now be add by driver/module when needed. I will be releasing the tcp/ip stack along with ethernet drivers, the stack and driver are in the same driver, so if you have a rtl8139 you will get that and the stack in one driver called rtl8139.dri ( normal this would make the driver too big, but it only 11k on disk size, including driver and full stack). hidnplayr has coded a VNC app for DexOS, that will be released over the coming week or so, i will also release the Vfile sys, thats in the form of a loadable driver, makes assembling with Fasm much faster.
